"God doesn't want your thirty dollar offering. He wants everything you have."-Rolland BakerAfter an Alumni week of caring for 17-21 year olds, as they returned to their roots at Double H Ranch, the camp came to an end on August 24. After the young adult campers departed, Josh and I also l
eft Lake Luzerne and boarded a train to Virginia. I feel we have completely followed our hearts and have gone against logic (challenging the supernatural seems to be a trait of following one's heart) by deciding to visit Virginia. We are staying at Mama Deane's beautiful home on the South East coast in York Town. Mama Deane is a wonderful lover of God who Josh met at Holy Given '05. She has obediently opened her home as a place of rest to the missionaries she met in Mozambique.
I am one who has trouble resting. I often feel sad if I don't feel that I am working hard and doing something worthwhile. I have trouble with the thought of taking a vacation because it just seems like a wasted period of time, basking in luxury and entertainment while people are suffering. That perspective can be good and bad.
I think that it is crucial to rest and to take time at the feet of Jesus. I think that at His feet we are changed and equipped to help those who are suffering. There is a danger of ministry becoming a distraction from Jesus. I feel that there is a great imploring from the Holy Spirit, for ministry to be the result of intimacy with Jesus.
I have come to Mama Deane's house of peace with my wonderful fiance and I have surrendered to rest at His feet.
Tonight, I watched a message from Rolland Baker that I believe puts the heart beat of Jesus into words.
