Session 6: Spiders, Coa-coa puffs, and Goats

High Ropes Course
Ten year old Kristen was a runner. A 'runner' is what we call kids who constantly dash away from the group. As Kristen constantly tested how much she could defy the counselors by storming in her room and slamming the door, and refusing to participate, she quickly became my favourite. Yes, all the little Deer need love and attention, but Kristen was the kind of young girl who needed to be held and told that God loves her and that she is beautiful and smart.
Instead of eating the food at meals, she wolfed down bowls of coa-coa puffs. Instead of responding to "please come here". She came meowing at the call of "here kitty, kitty."
All week Kristen did things that she didn't want to do (but secretly did) like ride a horse, go on rides at Great Escape, and we even walked the tight ropes together at the intimidating High Ropes Course.
As for an update from the barn, My and Josh's friend Jessica said 'goodbye' before she began her long drive back home to Alabama, with our littlest rabbit in tote.
Also, our newest addition to our animals are 4 Nubian goats, who the children will be able to pet and feed.
The best shenanigan at the barn this week is when the Raccoon Cabin (eleven, twelve year old boys) had to evacuate the gazebo because of a big grey spider dangling down from the ceiling.
Next week is our last regular session of camp, and following that we will host the camp to returning campers in 'Alumni Week'.

Your goat is cute. Did you get any does that you could milk? Goat milk is so delicious, provided you separate the bucks from the does.

We did get one female goat but I'm not sure if we will be milking her.
