It was never a dull moment as 9 little girls ran around the Deer Cabin all week. This week, we chose are theme to be 'Greek goddesses' complete with sheets cut into togas. Our special challenge was Olivia who is deaf and your typical hyper 8 year old. Using gestures and our broken sign language, my cabin team was able to communicate with her. I encouraged the other girls to treat her with kindness, even if it seemed unfair to them. Compassion, kindness and love are usually needed the most and are the most evident in unfair situations. I enjoyed the misadventures of the Deer Cabin from late night talks about prayer, a shower party, dancing around an olive tree, a spa night, and seeing 7 girls pile into a stand up, mesh princess castle, in the hallway of the cabin. My favourite moment of the week, was being at the bedside of 7 year old Natalie who cried hysterically over being homesick. This precious girl wasn't used to being away from her mom and was having a difficult time adjusting. Due to a rare disability, she has very limited use of her legs. Between sobs, Natalie told me she needed to go to the bathroom. As I picked her up and carried her to the washroom, her tears turned to hysterical laughter. Her sheets were tangled around her ankles and created a long train from her bed to the bathroom doorway. The laughter continued as I kept a firm grip on her and used one foot to pull the sheets off of her. Sometimes it's just the simple things. Although, I am enjoying the children, I do have to admit that I look forward to the end of camp. Josh and I look forward to pursuing what is next, but for now camp is in session and we pray to change perspectives of God and to be a light that shines in the darkness. There is nothing that is more important to us right now, than getting closer to God, falling hard in love with Jesus and continuing to run the race with joy.

Hi Jenny,
Just went to Josh's sight for the first time in ages and am checking out yours for the first time. Looks good. Congrats on your engagement. Have you heard that Kevin and I are having a baby?
